Green on the Go

After going down to Charleston for getaway last weekend with my roommate, I learned a good tip from my hotel I had since forgot about from the last time I stayed at a hotel.

Most hotels with a cleaning service offer signs that instruct the maids, if the occupant decides, to leave the towels and sheets instead of replacing them everyday. This is a great practice, it cuts down the water usage greatly and is something we can all duplicate in our own dorms and homes.

Similar to the old saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it", if your sheets and towels aren't dirty, there's no need to wash them. This is not an excuse to become a pig but there certainly isn't a need to wash everything, everyday. Plus, it means less work for you! So if you're going away for the weekend, use this practice and take it back with you when you come home.

P.S.- The picture is a sign that you can print out and leave so if you go to a hotel that does not offer this service, you can still stay green.

  1. I have noticed that many hotels are offering this green service and it is a big deal actually. Every little bit counts!

  2. apparently the greenest hotel in the country is in Greensboro, NC.. My parents stayed there a few times and it's super nice.
